As a precautionary measure, the children were evacuated and a search operation was conducted in the school premises.
The Indian Army personnel have been deployed outside the perimeters.
Last year, several panic stricken schools in Jammu called it a holiday after a rumour spread that militants had attacked a prestigious school along the India-Pakistan border.
Militants earlier in 2005 threw a grenade into Srinagar`s oldest Christian missionary school - Tyndale Biscoe Memorial High School (for boys), as children were pouring out after classes, leaving at least two women dead and 50 people, including 20 children injured.
Several Christian institutions were attacked in Jammu in the nineties causing severe damage to property and in some cases life.
