Sena demands immediate resignation of Padgaonkar

Shiv Sena threatened not to allow J&K interlocutors to function in Jammu till Dileep Padgaonkar quit the Centre-appointed panel.

Jammu: Shiv Sena on Friday threatened not to
allow J&K interlocutors to function in Jammu till Dileep
Padgaonkar quit the Centre-appointed panel for participating
in conferences organised by Kashmir American Council president
Ghulam Nabi Fai.

"We demand immediate resignation of Padgaonkar from
the post of chairman of the interlocutors` committee in view
of his name figuring as an invitee of ISI agent Ghulam Nabi
Fai," Sena state unit chief Ashok Gupta told reporters.

"We warn the government and interlocutors that they
will not be allowed to function in Jammu for their ground work
in meeting people till Padgaonkar does not resign or is not
removed from the post of chairman," Gupta said.

The party took out a protest rally and raised slogans
demanding resignation of Padgaonkar.

Fai was arrested in the US on July 19 by the Federal
Bureau of Investigation on charges of receiving funds from the
ISI and using it to inappropriately lobby the US government
over Kashmir.

Padgaonkar, appointed by the Centre to talk to various
shades of opinion in Jammu and Kashmir, has found himself at
the centre of a controversy after it emerged that he was among
the many journalists and others from India who had attended
conferences organised by Fai in the US and elsewhere.
