Seventh batch of 2,614 pilgrims leave for Amarnath Yatra

The seventh batch comprising 2,614 pilgrims on Tuesday left from Bhagwati Nagarbase camp here to the cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir Himalayas, a police official said.

Jammu: The seventh batch comprising 2,614 pilgrims on Tuesday left from Bhagwati Nagarbase camp here to the cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir Himalayas, a police official said.

The batch with 1,878 men, 546 women, 40 children and 150 sadhus, left in a cavalcade of 78 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagarbase camp here at 4:57 am amid tight security, a police official said.

The convoy has crossed Tomatar Morh on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and would reach its destination at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps by this evening, he added.

With today's batch, as many as 13,832 pilgrims have so far left from Jammu base camp for Amarnath shrine.
