Jammu: Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Wednesday hoped the Kashmir situation will improve through talks.

"Through talks and through understanding, I think things will improve (in Kashmir)", he told reporters after inaugurating a photo exhibition at Kala Kendra here.

He was replying to queries about his view on the situation in the Valley in the wake of 20 years of terrorism.

Earlier in the day, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accompanied by cabinet ministers and other senior officers, received the Tibetan spiritual leader at Jammu Airport.

The Dalai Lama was on a day-long visit to several Buddhist places on the outskirts of the city.
