Srinagar: Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit,
which lost two militants in an encounter with security forces
in Malroo area of the city, on Thursday said the ultras were on a
mission to attack army installations including the Army`s 15
Corps headquarters at Badamibagh here.
"The three militants were among six fidayeen (suicide)
militants who were assigned the job of carrying out attacks on
Badamibagh cantonment and Haft Chinar army camp in Srinagar,"
operational chief of JeM Sajjad Afghani said in a statement to
local media here.
He said Commander Yusuf Badni, Qari Mumtaz, Asadullah
Afghani, Saiful Islam Baber and Osama were to carry out
attacks in Sriangar and uniform, vehicles, communication
equipment and logistic support was provided to them.
"An informer tipped off police and Qari Mumtaz and
Asadullah Afghani were killed in Malroo encounter," Afghani
added.
He threatened that the outfit will carry out attacks on
the army installations in the city and elsewhere in the Valley
in the near future.
Official sources said security in and around Sringar city
has been put on an alert following the threat by the Jaish.
The intelligence gathering and surveillance has been
intensified to prevent any attack by the militants.
However, Inspector General of Police Kashmir S M Sahai
said the security grid was always prepared to take on the
militants as the threat has been palpable even earlier.
"We are cautious and carrying out the necessary exercise
but there is no need for raising an alarm," he added.
