Jammu: Kashmir-bound passengers stranded in Jammu held demonstrations demanding reopening of Jammu-Srinagar highway which remained closed for third consecutive day on Sunday due to heavy snowfall.

Over 1,700 Kashmir-bound passengers, who are stranded at Jammu bus stand, held protest demonstrations and demanded immediate reopening of the highway.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his political adviser Devinder Singh Rana met the passengers and directed the officials to provide lodging, food and health care facilities to them.

He assured them that all efforts were being made to re-open the national highway at the earliest.
