Jammu: In an unusual demonstration, over 50 children today blocked Poonch-Mandi road to protest against absence of teachers from their school in Timbra village in Poonch district.

The school children led by vilalge official Mohammad Mushtaq blocked the Poonch-Mandi road at Timbra village, about 220-kms from here, for about one hour disrupting vehicular traffic, officials said here.

Alleging that teachers were remaining absent from the school, they said that it was badly affecting in completing their courses well on time.

An army convoy also stopped due to the blockade, they said, adding however, an officer leading the convoy assured the school children that their grievance would be taken up with the civil administration.
Thereafter, the school children dispersed and the vehicular traffic was restored between Poonch and Mandi, they said.
