Srinagar: A local court Thursday transferred a
case related to the killing of a teenager allegedly by a BSF
commandant and a constable to the General Security Forces
Court.

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Yashpal Bourney ordered
the transfer of the case related to the killing of 16-year-old
Zahid Farooq by a BSF unit in Nishat area of the city, which
had led to widespread protests and five days of shutdown in
the Valley in February this year.

Earlier, the court had on November 16 and November 23
deferred its order on the transfer plea till today.
Commandant of 68 Battalion BSF R K Birdhi and constable
Lakhvinder Kumar were arrested in connection with the case and
the duo were charged with murder of the boy.
BSF had moved an application under section 80 of the
BSF Act, seeking transfer of the case along with evidence and
documents, in order to try the accused personnel in the
General Security Forces Court (GSFC).
