Temperatures rise in Jammu and Kashmir, but cold stays
The minimum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir rose on Thursday after weeks of harsh winter chill.
Srinagar: The minimum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir rose on Thursday after weeks of harsh winter chill. Nonetheless the weatherman on Thursday forecast rain and snow at isolated places in the Kashmir Valley.
"Rain and snow will occur at isolated places across the Kashmir Valley during the next 48 hours," according to a weather official.
"The minimum temperature was 3 degrees Celsius in Srinagar while it was 11.5 degrees in Jammu," the official said.
"In south Kashmir`s Pahalgam hill station, the minimum was one degree below freezing point while it was minus 2.4 degrees in north Kashmir`s Gulmarg ski resort," he said.
"Leh and Kargil towns in Ladakh region of the state had minus 9.6 degrees and minus 12 degrees minimum temperatures respectively," as per the official.
Sub-zero temperatures had prevailed in parts of the state in the past few weeks.
