Terror plot foiled in J-K; Huge cache of ammunition seized

Security forces on Tuesday claimed to have thwarted a militant plot to carry out terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Independence Day by recovering a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from a village.

thwarted a militant plot to carry out terror strikes in Jammu
and Kashmir ahead of the Independence Day by recovering a huge
quantity of arms and ammunition, including RDX, from a hideout
in a village in Reasi district.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising personnel of
J-K Police, Rashtriya Rifle (RR) and CRPF launched a search
operation at Bal Angralla village, 140 kms from here, in
Mahore tehsil in the wee hours today, a police spokesman said.

The team came across a militant hideout from where a huge
cache of arms and ammunition, including 20 kg RDX, was seized.
The recoveries included 34 dura cell, 154 A K rounds, 19
pika rounds, one pika belt, 15 Chinese grenade, three H E
grenade, one Yessu set, one AK magazine, three Antenna
Helical, ration items, 1.5 safety fuse and two surgical
blades.

However, no arrests were made, he said, adding the
explosives were meant to carry out strikes during or before
I-Day, he said.
