Srinagar: Top Hizbul Mujahideen militant
Basharat Saleem is believed to have been shot dead by a rival
terror group Harkat-ul-Mujaideen headed by Noman in North
Kashmir and the killing is perceived as a result of inter
terror group rivalry.

Official sources said Bhasharat, who was a wanted
terrorist, was kidnapped by the Noman`s group last week,
following suspicion by the HuM terrorists that someone was
leaking information of their movements to police.

Basharat is most likely dead and there is a credible
input to suggest that he had been shot dead, the sources said.

Basharat was on the most wanted list of the security
agencies in north Kashmir as he had evaded their dragnet three
times since the beginning of this year. During one of the
operations at Chinkipora in Sopore town of Baramulla, he had
managed to escape from the security cordon.

However, his body had not been recovered as yet, they
said.
