Jammu: Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, one
of them a self-styled district commander, were killed in a
gunbattle with security forces in Reasi district of Jammu and
Kashmir, police said on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off that some militants were hiding in
Khour belt at Mahore, some 180-km from here, Army troops and

As security forces zeroed in on the militants, they
fired at them triggering a gunbattle in which two militants
were killed and a policeman was wounded.
The slain ultras, identified as Bashir Ahmed alias Abu
Rehman and Arif Ahmed, belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen, police
The injured policeman was hospitalised, they said, adding
the gunfight ended at around 01:00 hrs today.
Bashir, who got training in PoK and was operating in
Doda-Ramban-Reasi-Rajouri belt for the past 16 years, was a
self-styled district commander of the outfit, police said.
Two AK rifles, nine grenades, seven detonators and some
explosive material were recovered from the scene.
