Two LeT militants arrested from Srinagar

Two militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba were arrested here on Friday and a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them, police said.

Srinagar: Two militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba were arrested here on Friday and a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them, police said.

"Police has busted a LeT sleeper cell in the city that were planning to carry out subversive activities in Srinagar. Two militants have been arrested so far and large cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered from them," a police spokesman said.

Acting on specific inputs regarding the activities of the "sleeper cell" of the outfit active in Nowgam-Chanpora areas, the police arrested two militants including a driver of a private school Mohammad Irfan Haroon, resident of Tawheed Colony, Natipora and Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, resident of Haja Mohalla, Natipora.

Three AK 47 rifles, 14 pistols and two wireless sets were recovered from them.

A case has been registered and investigations were going on and more arrests were expected in the case, police said.
