Two policemen injured in J&K militant attack

Two Policemen were critically injured when they were attacked by suspected militants armed with sharp edged weapons in Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Monday, officials here said.

Constable Abdul Majid and Special Police Officer
Mohammad Ashraf were attacked with knives by unidentified
assailants in a town in Kulgam district, 70 kms from here,
they said.

The attackers also took away the service rifles - an AK-47 rifle and an INSAS rifle - of the injured jawans and
fled from the scene in a SUV.

The injured were rushed to a hospital in Srinagar where
their condition was stated to be "critical", said officials,
adding that a hunt has been launched to nab the attackers.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility
for the incident, they said.
