Vectra suspends chopper service to Vaishnodevi
A day after Aviation regulator DGCA cancelled its flying permit, Global Vectra suspended helicopter service to the holy cave shrine of Vaishnodevi.
Jammu: A day after Aviation regulator DGCA cancelled its flying permit, Global Vectra on Tuesday suspended its helicopter service to the holy cave shrine of Vaishnodevi.
"The operation of the helicopter service to Vaishnodevi has been suspended after cancellation of the flying licence," a senior official of the Global Vectra told a news agency.
No sorties were carried out by the company between Katra and Sanjichat resulting in heavy rush of pilgrims for Pawan Hans Helicopter service.
Hundreds of pilgrims, who had made advanced booking, were left high and dry at Katra, the base camp for the pilgrimage.
The Vaishnodevi Shrine Board has directed the Pawan Hans to ferry the stranded pilgrims, Board officials said.
Pawan Hans made additional sorties, touching nearly 100, to transport over 1050 pilgrims from Katra to Sanjichat and vice versa.
Yesterday, the DGCA suspended the operating permit of Global Vectra, whose promoter Ravi Rishi is under the CBI scanner in the controversial Tatra truck deal with the army, following withdrawal of security clearance by the Union Home Ministry.
