Youth Cong activists hold anti-govt protest near IB

The activists, who gathered at RS Pura near the IB, accused the Modi-led government of not doing much to address the problems of the border residents.

Jammu: Youth Congress activists on Thursday staged a protest against the Centre and state government to raise the problems being faced by the people who are living along the International Border (IB) in the Jammu region.

The activists, who gathered at R S Pura near the IB, accused the Narendra Modi-led government of not doing much to address the problems of the border residents.

"The people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially those living near LOC and Indo-Pak border, are directly affected by the prevailing situation between the two countries, which is a cause of great concern for all of us," Pradesh Youth Congress president Pranav Shagotra said.

"The policies of BJP-led NDA government are hollow when it comes to deal with the problems of the border residents as it is evident from the fact that so many ceasefire violations have taken place during the period of 18 months, since the Modi government took over at the Centre," he said.

Shagotra said the government should immediately fulfill the promise of allotting of 5 marlas plots to the identified population living on the IB and LOC.

"We also demand that the relatives of those who lost their lives should be immediately given jobs, and those who lost their crops should be adequately compensated," he said.
