Ranchi: Former union minister and party leader Yashwant Sinha on Wednesday was granted bail, days after he was arrested for leading a demonstration against the poor power scenario in Jharkhand.
Fifty-seven Bharatiya Janata Party workers were also granted bail along with Sinha on Wednesday.
Sinha moved the bail petition on Tuesday, but arguments in the case were deferred till Wednesday as top party leader LK Advani was scheduled to meet him on Tuesday.
After meeting Sinha in jail on Tuesday, Advani did not rule out the possibility of a larger role for him in the state. The BJP stalwart had also appealed him to seek bail and lead the agitation in the state.
Sinha was arrested on June 02 and was produced in court on June 03 and sent to judicial custody after he refused to furnish a bail bond.
His judicial custody was on Monday extended till June 28.
Central BJP leaders like Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Shahnawaz Hussain met Sinha in jail last Thursday.
