Ranchi (Jharkhand): A BSF helicopter on anti-Naxal duty crashed on the outskirts of Ranchi on Wednesday, killing two pilots and a technician on board.

The advanced light helicopter (ALH) Dhruv was going to Chaibasa from Ranchi when its engine caught fire and it crashed in Khunti jungle, a senior BSF official said.

All three on board the Pawan Hans chopper, Captain Thomas, Captain S P Singh and technician Manoj Kumar Swain, were killed in the mishap, he said.

A team of CRPF personnel deployed in the area for anti-Naxal operation has been rushed to the area. Air Force too launched a rescue operation from Kalaikunda air base.

Pawan Hans: A Navratan PSU of India, now, renamed as, MASTERS OF DISASTER. The policy of pay as you fly will kill all the Helicopter pilots in this company.

This helicopter was operated and maintained by Pawan Hans which is hell bent on creating a world record of highest number of accidents in shortest possible time. This was the second fatal helicopter belonging to BSF and outsourced to Pawan Hans which crashed this year killing all on board and depleting the already scarce aviation assets of MHA. Combined with other helicopters belonging to Pawan Hans , it raises serious questions about the competence of senior management to run a high skill oriented aviation organisation. For far too long Pawan Hans has kept crucial senior management positions deliberately vacant so that they do not pose a threat to present top brasses who unfortunately are all from non aviation background !!! The result is there for all to see.
