Charges of flouting CNT Act politically motivated: Munda
Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda termed `politically motivated` the opposition allegations of violation of Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act.
Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Tuesday termed `politically motivated` the opposition allegations of violation of Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act, which protects sale and purchase of tribal land.
"These (charges) are politically motivated. There is no such evidence," Munda said when asked to comment on opposition Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) chief Babulal Marandi`s allegation of serious violation of CNT.
Munda said: "Babulalji met me. He suggested changes in the CNT Act. I said what are those changes? What are the views of other political leaders ? What are the legal aspects? Whether there should be an all-party meeting on this?"
"But as of now there is neither any move nor any proposal for change in the act," he said.
A debate over the act was on for sometime with some advocating amendment to the decades-old CNT Act and others opposing any move that might affect interest of the tribals.
