Circle officer abducted in Jharkhand

Unidentified gunmen today abducted a circle officer in Maoist-dominated Hazaribagh district, police said.

today abducted a circle officer in Maoist-dominated Hazaribagh
district, police said.

"Keradari block circle officer Nirmal Toppo was returning
to Hazaribagh after his office hours when a group of armed men
stopped his vehicle between Keradari and Barkakana and
abducted him and his driver. The driver was later freed," DSP
Pankaj Kamboj told reporters here.

Both police and CRPF have launched a massive search
operations in the area to locate the officer, he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey
refused to comment on whether Maoists could be behind the
abduction saying details were awaited.
