Ranchi: Jharkhand Speaker C P Singh on Friday said the era of allegations and counter-allegations should end to prevent people from losing faith in their representatives and public servants in the country.
Without naming, in his inaugural written speech to the assembly, any party or the CAG report over coal block allotment and the ongoing allegations and counter-allegations between Congress and BJP, Singh, said constitutional institutions should be given respect otherwise their credibility would be in the dock.
Claiming that much energy was being channelled to `belie` the institution (CAG) entrusted with accounts and expenditure, Singh alleged that habit of falsifying such reports was developing among politicians.
"...We have to learn to respect the (constitutional) agencies. The truth will be decided suo moto by the agencies. If this doesn?t happen (learning to give respect) then anarchy will be prevailed in the country and faith of the people will be finished," claimed the Speaker on the first day of the monsoon session here.
Calling upon all the constitutional bodies to discharge their duties within their boundary, Singh suggested for self-introspection to safeguard our constitutional institutions.
Later, the House was adjourned till Monday after paying rich tributes to former Maharashtra chief minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh, ex-CM of Manipur D Nimapacha Singh, film actor Rajesh Khanna, Lakshmi Sehgal and some other prominent people, who passed away recently.
