Electoral alliance not a priority: Marandi

Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) (Prajatantrik) president Babulal Marandi Monday said electoral alliance was not a priority for his party as it was a political compulsion for those who failed to deliver during their tenure in power.

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) (Prajatantrik) president Babulal Marandi Monday said electoral alliance was not a priority for his party as it was a political compulsion for those who failed to deliver during their tenure in power.

"Any alliance whether it is pre-poll or post-poll is not our priority as it is a political compulsion for those who failed to deliver during their tenure in power," the former chief minister told reporters here.

"However, we are functioning in a democratic set-up and we do not reject such options outright and the party will consider such proposal when it would come," Marandi said.

He said criminal activities and extremism were on the spurt and the government was not pursuing any developmental work.

To prove his point, Marandi said he had laid the foundation for construction of a state assembly building during his tenure as chief minister in 2000, but the project did not move an inch forward after he stepped down.
