Ranchi: Jharkhand High Court on Friday dismissed the election petition of BJP`s losing candidate Ram Ji Lal Sharda who challenged the 2009 Hatia assembly election result.
The dismissal of the petition by the bench of Justice R K Merathia paved the way for the by-poll which was held up due to the pending case.
The seat had fallen vacant after the demise of Congress MLA Gopal Sharan Nath Shahdeo in June 2010.
Sharda had filed the petition soon after the result was announced on December 25, 2009.
