Ranchi: AICC President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday
announced that Rs one lakh would be given from the party fund
to the family of the person killed in police firing at
Islamnagar here, as the Congress demanded a probe alleging
that there was a conspiracy against Union Tourism Minister
Subodh Kant Sahay.
"The AICC president today announced Rs one lakh from
party fund to be given to the family of the person who was
killed in the police firing during the anti-encroachment drive
here yesterday," AICC spokesman, Shakeel Ahmed told reporters
here.

The party would also give Rs 25,000 each to two
seriously injured persons and Rs 10,000 each to seven other
injured, Ahmed, who visited the demolished sites at Islamnagar
and Nagababa Khatal, said.

Ahmed also alleged that that there was a conspiracy
against the Union minister as a boy sitting before him was
killed in the police firing yesterday.

"The father of the deceased said had his son not come
in the way, the bullet would have hit Sahay. There should be a
high-level probe into the police firing," Ahmed said.

"I would say it was a conspiracy against the Union
minister who as an MP of the constituency had gone to the area
to express solidarity with the people in distress," Ahmed, the
party`s in-charge of Jharkhand affairs, said.
Ahmed said he had asked JPCC President Pradeep Kumar
Balmachu to lead a delegation to Raj Bhavan to urge the
governor to get a detailed report on the incident.

"We`ll also request the governor to send a report to
the Centre recommending strong action against the government,"
he said.

He also demanded action against the policemen who had
fired and those who ordered them to do so.
