JD(U) demands dissolution of Jharkhand Assembly

Janata Dal(U) on Wednesday demanded dissolution of Jharkhand Assembly paving way for a mid-term poll to end the current political uncertainty in the state.

Ranchi: Janata Dal(U) on Wednesday demanded
dissolution of Jharkhand Assembly paving way for a mid-term
poll to end the current political uncertainty in the state.

"To end the political uncertainty, the governor should
dissolve the House and provide the people with an opportunity
to give a fresh mandate," JD(U)`s Jharkhand unit spokesman
Pramod Mishra said here.
"The Centre should also look into the Jharkhand
Assembly`s resolution taken four years ago demanding to
increase House membership to 150 from the present 81 elected
members (excluding one nominated MLA)," Mishra said.

"An increase in the House strength would also
increase the possibility of a clear mandate," he said.
The JD(U), which has two MLAs in the 82-member
Assembly, has already announced that it backed the BJP`s
decision to withdraw support to the five-month-old Shibu
Soren government.

Governor M O H Farooq has asked Soren to face floor
test by May 31.
