Ranchi: Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday condoled
the death of former West Bengal and Kerala chief ministers
Siddharth Shankar Ray and K Karunakaran respectively.
Speaker C P Singh said the deaths were a great loss in
the political sphere of the nation.
Ray, also former ambassador to USA, had died on November
6, while Karunakaran passed away on December 23. Both were
veteran Congress leaders.
The house also condoled the death of another Congress
leader Thomas Hansda and former deputy speaker of Bihar
assembly Jagabandhu Adhikari.
Chief Minister Arjun Munda and the leader of opposition
R P Singh were among those who expressed grief on the
occasion.
Later, the house was adjourned till January 3.
