Jharkhand Chief Minister expands cabinet

Six new ministers were on Thursday inducted in the BJP-led NDA government in Jharkhand, taking the total strength of the Raghubar Das cabinet to 11.

Ranchi: Six new ministers were on Thursday inducted in the BJP-led NDA government in Jharkhand, taking the total strength of the Raghubar Das cabinet to 11.

Governor Syed Ahmed administered the oath of office to Saryu Roy, Ramchandra Chandravanshi, Raj Paliwar, Neera Yadav, Randhir Kumar Singh and Amar Kumar Bauri at a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan here.

Singh and Bauri, who won elections on the symbol of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik), had joined the BJP on February 11 along with four other MLAs.

Jharkhand can have a maximum of 12 ministers, including the Chief Minister.

Das, who on December 28 took oath along with four other ministers - C P Singh, Louis Marandi, Nilkanth Singh Munda and Chandraprakash Choudhary - can induct one more in his cabinet, which has only one minister from the BJP's ally Ajsu party.
