Jharkhand: CPI(M) sub-zonal commander arrested

Medininagar: A CPI (Maoist) sub-zonal commander was on Monday arrested from Matauli village of Naxal-hit Palamu district.

Superintendent of Police Anup T Mathew said Mohit alias Manoj Yadav was arrested from near Matauli and the subsequent interrogation led the police to recover 105 live cartridges and a 10 kg landmine.

A resident of Barachatti police station area in Gaya district of Bihar, Yadav had spent two years in jail in Chatra and started operating in Palamu and Aurangabad in Bihar after his release in 2011.

He was wanted in various Naxal related incidents including blowing up of Harihargunj block office, Saraidih encounter and setting afire vehicles in Chainpur, Mathew added.
