Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has
recommended a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the
Secret Service Fund, officials said here today.
The recommendation comes after the Jharkhand High Court
had on August 28 disposed a PIL, which sought a CBI probe into
the allegations, after the government told the bench that it
was ready to recommend a probe by the central agency.
The PIL was filed soon after the Accountant General on
June 2, 2009 wrote to the government expressing doubt in the
expenditure of the funds as requisite documents were allegedly
not submitted after withdrawal of Rs 5.6 crore from the Secret
Service Fund (SSF) by the then DGP V D Ram.
The SSF is spent to obtain information, secret in
nature and on matters relating to maintaining law and order.
