Ranchi: Amid Maoist calls to boycott the Jharkhand assembly election, Election Commission has roped in Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to appeal to the electorate to come out in large numbers to cast votes.

"The CD with Dhoni's appeal to voters has been released," Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi K K Soan told PTI.

The CD "My vote my future" features Dhoni, a resident of Ranchi, and appeals to the people of Jharkhand to conquer their future by casting votes.

The CDs have been released to the cable networks and electronic news channels, he said.

Around 55 per cent voter turnout was registered during Lok Sabha polls this year.

Maoist posters urging people to boycott polls have appeared in districts like Latehar in Jharkhand, officials said.
