Ranchi: Jharkhand Minister and Janata
Dal (U) leader Gopal Krishna Patar on Thursday joined the party’s
demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to demand granting
of special status state to Bihar.
"Besides Patar, 125 leaders from JD(U)`s Jharkhand
unit have joined Bihar JD(U) team headed by its president
Basishth Narayan Singh in the day-long demonstration in New
Delhi to put pressure on Centre to give Bihar the special
status," JD(U)`s state unit spokesman Pramod Mishra said.
Party`s vice-president, general secretary and district
presidents were among those who accompanied Patar, he said.
Asked why Jharkhand was not included in the demand,
Mishra said, "The party will decide over it in future."
JD(U) is a coalition partner in Arjun Munda-led
government in Jharkhand.
Bihar has been demanding for special status ever since
Jharkhand was carved out of it on November 15, 2000, so also
leaders from Jharkhand.
