JLT guerrilla killed in gunfight with Maoists

A Jharkhand Liberation Tiger (JLT) guerrilla was killed and two others injured when they indulged in a gunbattle with Maoists at Panki in Palamu district, the police said today.

injured when they indulged in a gunbattle with Maoists at
Panki in Palamu district, the police said today.

"Jharkhand Liberation Tiger (JLT) member Guddu Bhuiyan
was killed when they fought with Maoists late last night,"
Superintendent of Police Anup T Mathew said today.

Meanwhile, the 48-hour bandh called by Maoists in 7
states including Jharkhand in protest against the killing of
its leader Azad a few months ago in Andhra Pradesh evoked
mixed response in Kolhan region on the second day today.

While the bandh has affected normal life in Naxal
pockets of Ghatsila sub-division in East Singhbhum district,
Nimdih, Chandil in Saraikela-Kharswan and Sonua, Manoharpur,
Bandgaon, and Goilkera in West Singhbhum, it had failed to
evoke any response in the urban areas.
