Hazaribagh (Jharkhand): Former director-cum-controller of examination of Jharkhand Public Service Commission Usha Rani Singh on Tuesday surrendered before the police, hours after a team of vigilance bureau sleuths attached her movable and immovable property here.
Singh, who was absconding since the alleged
irregularities in the conducting of JPSC examination surfaced
despite a warrant of arrest from the vigilance court, walked
into the Hazaribagh Mufassil police station, the police said.
On being informed, the vigilance sleuths took her into
their custody and left for Ranchi to produce her before the
Vigilance Court tomorrow, the sources said.
Earlier in the day, the vigilance officers hired a
tractor locally, loaded her household goods, including
electronic gadgets, following an order of attachment of her
property by the vigilance court, after Singh evaded arrest and
skipped appearing before the court.
She and some other ex-officials of JPSC had been
dismissed following alleged irregularities and nepotism in
conducting JPSC examination in 2009.
