Maoist surrenders before Giridih SP

A Maoist, who was accused of an attack on Babulal Marandi when the latter was the chief minister in 2002, on Tuesday surrendered before the Giridih Superintendent of Police.



Giridih (Jharkhand): A Maoist, who was
accused of an attack on Babulal Marandi when the latter
was the chief minister in 2002, on Tuesday surrendered before
the Giridih Superintendent of Police.
"Babumani, who hails from Gaganpur village in Bihar`s
Jamui district, has surrendered. He deposited a gun and a
bullet," superintendent of police A V Homkar, told reporters
here.

Babumani`s attempt to attack the convoy of
the then chief minister Babulal Marandi was foiled by the
police, he said.
Marandi was going to attend a "Janata Darbar" at Gotia
village in Giridih district when Babumani tried to attack
Marandi, the SP said.

Babumani was also accused of several other
Maoist-related cases, Homkar said.
