Jamshedpur: An Assistant Engineer was arrested allegedly for misappropriating funds meant for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act
(MNREGA) in West Singhbhum district.
A police team from Chaibasa Sadar police station arrested the Assistant Engineer, Shashi Prakash from Sakchi here in Jamshedpur yesterday, police today said.
A case had been lodged against Prakash, now posted at Rajnagar in adjoining Saraikela-Kharswan district, for allegedly bungling over Rupees two crores meant for the central funded scheme when he was posted in the district,
police said.
On the directive of the district administration of West Singhbhum, police had lodged five cases against persons who had allegedly misappropriated the MNREGA fund.
