Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda Thursday said industrialisation is important for economic growth of the state but the government would never set up industries against the interests of the people.

"My government has repeatedly assured people that it would never promote industrialisation against their interest even though industrialisation was important for the economic growth of the state," Munda told reporters here today.

"We have never supported forcible acquisition of land or displacement for industries," he said adding the government has encouraged industries to make the land holders a partner for inclusive growth.

Referring to the Kharswan bypolls, the chief minister hailed the people for turning out in large numbers and said their mandate will be acceptable.

Asked the by-election was a tough one compared to his previous contest as the entire state cabinet trooped in to campaign in his favour, Munda, who represented Kharswan thrice on the trot since 1995 till he resigned after he was elected to Lok Sabha from Jamshedpur seat in the last election, said it was natural for cabinet ministers to campaign in such bypolls.

To a query whether the high polling percentage was an indication of anti-incumbency factor against him, Munda said whatever would be the people mandate, it would be acceptable.

Admitting that there were various problems being faced by the poor in remote areas, Munda said, they will chalk out long-term plan to solve the problems.

Asked whether cabinet reshuffle a possibility, if his government survived following the outcome of Kharswan by-poll, Munda replied in the negative.

Referring the ensuing 34th National Games, the Chief Minister said the preparation was almost complete and the games will be conducted successfully.

"I have been enquiring about the day to day progress even though I was engaged in the campaigning in Kharswan for the last ten days," he said assuring that the games will be organised in a grand manner and it would be one of the best.
