No let up in anti-Maoist operation during monsoon: Jharkhand IG
Jharkhand police on Tuesday said they would mount pressure on the rebels despite the monsoons.
Ranchi: After successful operations against the left-wing guerillas in Jharkhand`s West Singhbhum and Latehar districts, Jharkhand police on Tuesday said they would mount pressure on the rebels despite the monsoons.
Operation will continue even during the monsoon. The security forces had carried out the successful Saranda operation (in West Singhbhum) by flushing out the Maoists in July last year. If we can do it in Saranda in monsoon, we can do it anywhere, Inspector General of Police (Operation) SN Bhagat said.
Mosquitoes will not be a problem (for the security men operating in deep jungles, Pradhan said to a query, indicating that the security forces have been equipped with all necessary gadgets and repellents.
Though several security officers had suffered from malaria last year following their fight against the Maoists in the deep jungles, they were able to drive out the rebels.
Union Rural Development Minister Jayaram Ramesh had also praised the efforts by security forces and sanctioned funds for development programmes in the villages surrounded by the Saranda forests.
