Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister
Hemant Soren on Saturday said the Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act (CNT) was
not a hindrance in the path of development of the state and
there was no need for amendment in it.
The CNT Act will be implemented more strictly to protect
the land of poor adivasis in the state, Soren told newsmen
here.
Asked whether any possibility of amendment in the act as
demanded by section of leadership in BJP, he said even if any
amendment would take place, it was strengthen the act more.
JMM supremo Sibu Soren, who is also the Chairman of the
Steering committee of the alliance of BJP-JMM-AJSU party and
JD (U) in Jharkhand, said CNT act have been existing and will
remain so in the state.
What’s wrong in the CNT act?, he asked stating that it
was to protect the poor adivasi lands.
If the act was amended or repealed, the adivasi community
will be finished in Jharkhand, he opined.
Asked whether JMM will field its candidate in Kharswan
assembly by-election, Sibu Soren said the party will contest
the election.
He clarified that the party will discuss the issue with
BJP when a notification will be issued in this regard.
