Panchayats to be made self-sustainable: J’khand CM

their resources so that the local bodies could develop their

panchayat system through devolution of powers, resource
mobilisation (at their level), so that growth of panchayats
could be sustainable," Munda told the assembly.
Replying during `chief minister`s question hour` in
the house, Munda said there were about 57,000 representatives
in the three-tier panchayat system and the state would support
them through the devolution of powers.

MGNREGA funds straight to the panchayats show the local
elected bodies would ensure employment at their level.
