Medininagar: Two Maoists, including a regional committee member of CPI(Maoist) who is on the wanted list, were on Saturday arrested from Nawadih in Naxal-hit Palamau district of Jharkhand on Saturday.
Palamu Superintendent of Police Mayur Ptael said Jairam Yadav, the CPI(Maoist) regional committee member, came to meet his family along with Bhupender Yadav.
Bhupender Yadav hails from Balrampur district of Chhatishgarh.
Jairam Yadav is wanted by Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh and Bihar police in connection with about 24 cases, including six encounters with security personnel and another four related to landmine explosions, Patel said.
He was also involved in the Katia jungle encounter in Latehar district where security personnel for the first time detected explosives planted inside the body of Maoists killed in the incident in 2013.
The duo have been involved in Maoist activities since 2007 and are members of the the squads headed by zonal commanders Anirudh and Birsa, he said.
The police superintendent said one eight round revolver and seven cartridges were recovered from the duo.
