Ranchi: Rajya Sabha member Parimal
Nathwani on Tuesday urged Jharkhand government to stop the
anti-encroachment drive as residents of the affected areas
moved the Supreme Court against the Jharkhand High Court`s
directive.

"With regard to the demolition drive undertaken in
Islamnagar, Kole Para, Millat Colony and other unauthorised
units (in Ranchi)...the residents have moved the Hon`ble
Supreme Court against the order dated 28.01.2011 (of the
HC)...you are therefore requested to wait for the decision of
the Hon`ble Supreme Court," Nathwani said in his letters to
Jharkhand Chief Secretary SK Choudhary, Home Secretary JB
Tubid and Ranchi Deputy Commissioner KK Sone.

Nathwani, who represents the Upper House from
Jharkhand as an Independent member, distributed copies of the
letters to the media in Ranchi.

The district administration has been carrying out
anti-encroachment drive for the last one week, triggering
protests by political leaders.
