Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has asked
state Vigilance to file an FIR against four MLAs on Election
Commission`s directive after a sting operation purportedly
showed them asking for bribe to vote for an RS candidate,
official sources said.
Rajesh Ranjan (Congress), Simon Marandi, Teklal Mahato
(both JMM) and Uma Shankar Akela (BJP) were caught on camera
demanding money to the tune of over Rs one crore for voting an
Rajya Sabha candidate in the June 17 polls.
The BJP and the Congress have already served show
cause notices on their respective legislators asking them to
explain their version.
The Election Commission had asked the state government
to file an FIR after one private news channel telecast the sting
operation in which the legislators allegedly demanded bribe
from reporters posing as middlemen to vote for an RS
