Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has asked state Vigilance to file an FIR against four MLAs on Election Commission's directive after a sting operation purportedly showed them asking for bribe to vote for an RS candidate, official sources said.

Rajesh Ranjan (Congress), Simon Marandi, Teklal Mahato (both JMM) and Uma Shankar Akela (BJP) were caught on camera demanding money to the tune of over Rs one crore for voting an Rajya Sabha candidate in the June 17 polls.

The BJP and the Congress have already served show cause notices on their respective legislators asking them to explain their version.

The Election Commission had asked the state government to file an FIR after the IBN Network telecast the sting operation in which the legislators allegedly demanded bribe from reporters posing as middlemen to vote for an RS candidate.
