Ranchi: Three Counter Insurgency and Anti-
Terrorism (CIAT) Schools will be set up in Jharkhand to give
specialised training to counter guerrilla warfare, officials
said Tuesday.
The three CIAT Schools will be set up at Netarhat in
Latehar district, Padma in Hazaribagh district and Musabani in
East Singhbhum district in the next couple of years, they
said.
Netarhat already has a jungle warfare school.
The training would equip the security personnel to
take on extremists` tactics of guerrilla warfare laced with
modern weapons and high power explosive materials.
A recruitment drive in the police department would
also take place in 2011-12 to appoint around 11,000 police
personnel at various level, they said, adding youths would be
given priority.
Besides the CPI(Maoist), the People`s Liberation
Front of India, Jharkhand Prastuti Committee and Tritiya
Samaloni Prastuti are some of the extremist outfits that have
their presence in Jharkhand, where 18 out of 24 districts are
Naxal-affected.
