Tribal students put up a road blockade at Karandih and adjoining areas Wednesday demanding unconditional release of students and others arrested for assaulting a government official.

Jamshedpur: Tribal students put up a road blockade at Karandih and adjoining areas Wednesday demanding unconditional release of students and others arrested for
assaulting a government official.

Slogan shouting students of Adivasi Welfare Students Hostels and villagers squatted on the main thoroughfare in support of their demand disrupting Tata-Chaibasa traffic for over five hours since morning, official sources said.

The protestors refused to withdraw their blockade till those arrested in connection with the assault on Jamshedpur Block Circle Officer Chandrabhusan Singh on Monday were released unconditionally.

Another group of tribals have also put up a road blockade in adjoining Nanduk and a police team has rushed to the spot to pursue them to lift it, sub-divisional officer of Dalbhum, Sunil Kumar Sinha said.

A total 11 people were arrested and sent to jail in
connection with the assault in which a named FIR was lodged.
