A woman was shot dead while another person sustained injury in two separating shooting incidents in the city here on Saturday.

Jamshedpur: A woman was shot dead while another person sustained injury in two separating shooting incidents in the city here on Saturday.

40-year-old Nazreen Parvez was shot dead allegedly by unidentified chain snatchers in Kadma-Sonari link road here, Superintendent of Police (city) Karthik S said.

Parvez, a resident of Dhatkidih, along with her friend was on her way for morning walk when two motorcycle-borne miscreants made a futile attempt to snatch her gold chain, police said.

She, however, caught hold of a miscreant and screamed for help.

In an attempt to free himself, the miscreant opened fire, injuring Parvez critically, Karthik said, adding, that the injured woman was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Three separate teams of police have been conducting massive raids in and around the city to apprehend the culprits, who managed to escape after committing the crime.

In another incident, one person was shot at and injured allegedly by the members of the rival group in Jugsalai here in the morning, the SP said.

The incident was a sequel to an old enmity between one Saddam and the accused Danish, who has already been banished by the East Singhbhum district, Karthik said.

Following an altercation, Saddam was shot at and seriously injured allegedly by Danish, he said adding that Saddam has been admitted in Tata Main Hospital.
