SM Krishna’s opinion on candidate selection in Karnataka personal: Congress New Delhi: Congress on Monday downplayed as "personal opinion" former Union Minister S M Krishna's remarks attacking candidate-selection process in his party for the Karnataka Assembly elections and claimed there was a "wave" in favour of the party in the state.

"This can be a personal opinion. He may have made the comment according to a particular situation. There is a wave in our favour in Karnataka. We are sure to win there," party spokesperson Sandip Dikshit told reporters.

He, however, refused to go into how many seats the party could win saying he was "no psephologist".

He said the panel to choose candidates this time had close to 60 members -- including himself -- which he termed as "unwieldy".

"I was very surprised to see the list (with nearly 60 names). Can we finalise candidates with such a big panel? That's why I did not go to the (panel's) meeting," Krishna said. "It (the big list) left me cold."

People don't share secret (as to whom they will vote). Sometimes, polls go wrong because people who are approached give misleading information," he said.

Diskhit, however, said,"individual leaders may some time feel that the process is not correctly done. He may have his opinon. He is entitled to that... I had also been to Karnataka. There is a very very strong wave in favour or Congress there."
