Bangalore: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday assured all assistance to the Bangalore Police in investigating the recent blast at Church Street area here in which one person lost his life.
"Basically, we are providing whatever help we can to the state police, which is investigating the case. We will provide all assistance whatever is required and whatever we can give in the investigation of this case," said Navneet Wasan, Special DG, NIA.
Earlier today, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju had said the NIA may take over the investigation of the Bangalore blast case from the local police, but added that the state police was currently investigating the matter.
A blast outside a restaurant in the busy Church Street earlier on Sunday evening led to the death of a woman while three others were injured. The blast was triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, however, refused to accept 'intelligence failure' as the reason for Sunday's blast in Bangalore and claimed that the blast took place despite all security measures being in place.
