Mangalore: The office of IT major Infosys here was evacuated on Thursday following a bomb threat, reports said.

The police have cordoned off the area surrounding the office and assisted by bomb disposal squad, they are searching the premises.

A phone call that a bomb has been planted there triggered the scare.

"A call was received at the Infosys office this afternoon stating that a bomb had been placed inside the campus," Commissioner of Police Mangalore Manish Kharbikar said.

Following the call, bomb disposal and dog squads with police personnel were deployed to comb the entire area and the campus at Kottara in Mangalore was evacuated, he said.

The search operation has not yielded anything yet, Kharbikar said, adding, "however, police are still combing the area to rule out any possibility."

"We will also investigate from where the call was made, and people behind it," he added.
