Bangalore: Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde on Friday said he was happy that the CEC report on illegal mining
had in a way endorsed the findings of the first report
submitted by Lokayukta on the issue.
"I am happy to know that the CEC report in a way upholds
part of the first report submitted by us", he told PTI.
However, he said it was too premature to comment on the
report as it was yet to be accepted by the Supreme Court. If
the report was accepted, it would vindicate the findings of
Lokayukta on the issue and would mean that the "sincere and
honest efforts of the Lokayukta on the issue had borne
fruits", he said.
The Lokayukta in his report on illegal mining had pointed
to irregularities indulged in the mining zone.
The Governor H R Bhardwaj had also drawn the Chief Minister
B S Yeddyurappa`s attention to the lack of action on the
illegal mining issue involving the Reddy brothers in Bellary.
